Fantastic place to stay in Port Douglas!

February 27th, 2010

We stayed Reflections Port Douglas Holiday Apartments in a 2 bedroom apartment with our 16 months old daughter and was very pleasantly surprised by the apartment (clean, large and had all the equipment you could need) and the location (50 meters to four mile beach and at the quiet end of the main street). We were able to hire a high chair and a cot, which made our trip so much easier. We originally booked for 7 nights, but liked it so much we stayed another 2 nights. The ’stand in’ hosts (Enid and Kevin) were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Great value for money.

Relaxed stay at Reflections

Stayed for 3 nights over Easter 2009 (sorry, late with my review). Carmel was a superb host, always helpful with advice, tips. The unit was roomy, clean and relaxing. Walk easily to everthing, beach and cafe/restaurants in Macrossan st. Pool clean but small so not as inviting as a resort style pool.Really nothing but positive experience here.

Outstanding accommodation with excellent service

We stayed at Reflections for 4 days in early November. It was our favorite accommodation on our month-long trip to Au and NZ. Carmel is a one-of-a-kind hostess, going out of her way to make you feel at home. She and her staff are very willing to give you advice on all local attractions and will also help make reservations. Carmel corresponded with us via email several times to give us local travel advice, even before we booked our room. She was kind enough to greet us at the curb the day we arrived, and she walked us out to the car when we left.
The units themselves are pristine – very clean, large and well appointed. The location is perfect – right adjacent to the beach and less than a block to walk into town.
We highly recommend Reflections – wish we could give it more than 5 stars!

Fabulous location, great service, spacious apartment!

February 26th, 2010

My husband and I stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon, we stayed in a two bedroom appartment. The appartment was spacious, very clean, and well equiped. You have a choice for swimming; either the beach (which is 1 min walk away) or the lovely pool in the gardens. Carmel and John were fantastic hosts and were there to meet us on arrival, nothing seemed to much trouble for them and they made our stay all the more special. Both are very knowledgable on the hundreds of local trips, I would definitely recomend their advice. The location was excellent, the beach 50m away and the shops / restaurants the same the opposite way. We found this a very relaxing place with a lovely calm atmosphere; which is sometimes lacking in the bigger resorts. Port Douglas was simply one of the best ‘resorts’, its unspolit by the national chains and retains its own natural identity. We would have no hesitation in returnng one day.

Perfect location, accommodation and superior service.

We recently spent 9 nights at Reflections of Port Douglas (Dec 13th -22nd) and could not rate it high enough. Carmel and John are magnificent hosts and nothing was too much to ask of Carmel. All day trips, shuttle services and restaurant bookings were made by Carmel and based on her excellent advice. The 3 bedroom apartment we had was spacious, clean and had all required amenities. Our 16 and 13 year old kids loved the space and spent much time on the balcony overlooking the pool and talking to friends via the available wireless internet. The local restaurants and cafes are very well priced with fantastic service and great coffee :) . The Beach Shack and Salsa are a must.
We miss our early morning and late evening walks along the warm water beach and are already talking about when we could get back to Reflections.

Port Douglas Carnivale 2010

February 25th, 2010

Welcome to the Port Douglas Carnivale. For 10 balmy days and nights each May (May 20-30th 2010), the festival of Carnivale takes over the seaside resort village of Port Douglas (Queensland, Australia) offering food, wine, music, culture, fashion, arts, sports, family fun and entertainment… and absolutely every reason you need to head to lovely Port Douglas!

Don`t forget to book your Port Douglas Carnivale Accommodation early

Now 18 years old and recognised as one of the regions principal events, Carnivale has grown from a street fiesta to a broad and diverse program which involves the entire community. Managed by the Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce, Carnivale aims to give locals a chance to celebrate the end of the wet season and the beginning of the busy tourist season, while encouraging regional, national and international visitors to visit and take part in the jocular festivities.

Port Douglas is just an hour’s drive from Cairns via a spectacular coastal road that is surrounded by forest and the Coral Sea and is the proud home to dozens of national award winning restaurants and resorts. It is the only place on Earth where two World heritage listed jewels exist; the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest of Daintree and Cape Tribulation.  With the seductive May climate, balmy cloudless blue sky days dissolve into tropical evenings with velvet starry skies, giving Carnivale-goers the perfect opportunity to enjoy “A Taste of Paradise”.

Perfect Port Douglas Accommodation – Clean, cool, comfortable, convenient.

February 18th, 2010

We stayed for five nights during the humid wet season and found the accomodation to be very comfortable but most importantly – cool and dry! The kitchen is well equipped for cooking but we spent our evenings dining at different restaurants in town (just down the street). We were blown away by Nautilus Restaurant. We had a side unit with a great garden view. We were out on excursions every day or walking 4 mile beach. The managers were friendly and helpful with all requests (went out of their way for a conference call). The location was perfect!
